A new full-text analysis of 515,161 Tea app posts by TeaAppGreenFlags.com, the leading Tea app checker, reveals an unexpected repeat offender in women's red-flag lists: Pokémon.— Spokesperson, TeaAppGreenFlags.com
Key findings from the 515,161-post analysis:
- 837 posts invoke gaming, Pokémon, anime or "nerd" hobbies. 87% of them are negative, with 729 carrying majority red flags.
- Pokémon is the most-named game franchise on the entire app: 65 posts, more than Fortnite (31) and Call of Duty (10) combined.
- 94% of the posts that mention Pokémon are red-flagged.
- The app's stock insult, "he collects women like Pokémon cards," appears in roughly 35 posts.
- Gaming call-outs more than quadrupled during Tea's viral explosion in late summer 2025, from about 20 to nearly 90 per month.
- California (139 posts), Texas (86) and Florida (54) lead the nation, and Texas cities hold four of the top ten city spots.
The posts speak for themselves. A commenter on a Seattle man's post: "I think collecting Pokémon cards now a days should be a red flag because I'm starting to notice a trend." A Los Angeles man is flagged as a "Yu-Gi-Oh & Pokémon fanatic, childlike remarks and behaviors." A Minnesota post reads: "his life skills peaked at Call of Duty." A New Jersey woman on a man who streams Fortnite: "he just gives me the ICKKK… grown ass man btw." A New Hampshire post warns that a date "spends a lot of money playing Pokémon GO."
Even the compliments are about Pokémon: one Florida woman praised a date's "sexy" Pokémon collection, prompting a commenter to reply, "should I be looking for men with Pokémon collections?"
