Seattle Parks and Recreation Opens New Rainier Beach Skate Park
Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR), CHAMPS Resource and Service Center, and Parents for Skateparks are excited to announce the opening of the Rainier Beach Skatepark, located at the edge of Rainier Beach Playfield, 4707 S. Cloverdale Street. This community-initiated all wheels skatepark is a great addition to the Rainier Beach Community Center, and local sporting activities.
The design of the skatepark incorporates community input and naturally integrates the skate park into the surrounding landscape. It offers a mix of street and transition-style terrain features, with elements for all age groups and ability levels. It will draw local users to the skatepark, and challenge both beginners and experienced users.
As part of this project, SPR collaborated with the community on a colorful mural for the skatepark. Community artist Myron Curry is finalizing the mural and the artist will continue working in the park. Please respect his space while he completes his work.
The budget for the Rainier Beach all-wheels skate park is provided from Federal, State, City, County and private fundraising. The project began with support by a Neighborhood Matching Fund award from the City of Seattle Department of Neighborhoods. Design and construction funding is provided by Seattle Parks and Recreation, with grants from the National Park Service (NPS) Land Water and Conservation Fund, the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office and the King County Parks Levy.

An opening celebration is planned for October 10, 2026 with lessons by Skate Like a Girl, music, and fun skate giveaways.
