Celebrate 10 Years of Get Moving with a Sneaker Ball

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is celebrating 10 years of community connection, recreation, and partnerships with a special anniversary event! Join us on Friday, October 16, for Get Moving: 10 Years in Motion – An OAMR Sneaker Ball at the Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI).

What began in 2016 as the Get Moving Initiative, an effort to expand access to quality recreation programs and build connections with communities furthest from equity, has grown into a wide range of programs and services that bring recreation opportunities to communities across Seattle.

Today, that work continues through SPR’s Outdoor Activation Mobile Recreation (OAMR) unit, which includes Community Engagement Ambassadors, Community Grants (Get Moving, Recreation for All, Arts in Parks, and Hope for Youth), Rec ‘N The Streets, Career Explorations, Food & Fitness, Summer Meals & Playgrounds, and Big Day of Play.

Over the past decade, community members, organizations, and partners have helped shape these programs, creating opportunities for people of all ages to connect, get active, and enjoy recreation throughout Seattle.

This year’s celebration has a Sneaker Ball theme, so lace up your favorite sneakers and pair them with your best celebration attire! Guests will enjoy dinner and a look back at highlights from a decade of programming and community impact.

Event space is limited, and organizations are encouraged to limit the number of representatives attending so we can celebrate with as many community partners and collaborators as possible.

10 Years of Get Moving! Join Seattle Parks and Recreation for a sneaker ball celebrating 10 years of work, community, collaboration, impact and service with Outdoor Activation and Mobile Recreation.
